Gladman are proposing to put the main entrance road to the new estate on White Post Road, Bodicote

Anyone that lives in Bodicote already knows the chaos that is White Post Road in the mornings and afternoon.

White Post Road is currently affected by:

  • School traffic in the mornings and afternoons
  • Traffic generated by Cherwell District Councils 700 staff
  • Drivers using Broad Gap to Wykham Lane as a rat-run to the Bloxham Road
  • residents simply trying to get to work in the morning

Add to this the potential traffic generated by 280 new homes.

According to The Office for National Statistics, in 2011, the average number of cars per household was approximately 1.4  – (Source: http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/dcp171778_290685.pdf, P26)

This would mean up to 336 more cars emptying out onto White Post Road.

Below is Gladman’s indicative Spine Road proposal (please note that is plan is NOT final).

The current state of White Post Road and Sycamore Drive:

You may also notice on the plan a new car park for school traffic. There’s 26 places in there, and assuming it would be an unregulated car park, it would simply get filled with CDC cars.
